In&lt;br /&gt;fact, I don't take any.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But today is different.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I rarely show up to camps, either - in fact, I've&lt;br /&gt;never, ever shown up to a junior kids camp.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Except for one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A few weeks ago, I showed up to a camp held by&lt;br /&gt;a good friend of mine - and rising performance&lt;br /&gt;trainer - named Mike Mahon.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mike, along with other established basketball&lt;br /&gt;trainers - the incredible Ganon Baker and high-&lt;br /&gt;intensity Jason Wright - held a 1-night camp&lt;br /&gt;at the American Sports Center, Anaheim. Don't you know?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;It's dark in a stupid room&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the busiest time of the year for me, because&lt;br /&gt;my private professional clients are on the phone&lt;br /&gt;to me all day... and I'm going here, there and&lt;br /&gt;everywhere to monitor sessions and disrupt the&lt;br /&gt;flock. And pi$$ off a few people, too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Funnily enough, I like pi$$ing people off...&lt;br /&gt;especially the old-school knuckleheads.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enough on that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, why all the "Summer time fuss"?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's why...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Maximal Vertical Leap and Athletic&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Enhancement Results In The Shortest&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Time Possible&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Summer is the time when athletes are made. Some&lt;br /&gt;boys become men. Others remain boys.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the greatest chance for athletes and teams to&lt;br /&gt;make individual strides forward and improve their&lt;br /&gt;stand as organizations...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the only time they can leverage their&lt;br /&gt;efforts fully, towards becoming "supreme" beings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For a short time, the *only* focus is vertical&lt;br /&gt;jump, power, speed, athleticism.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No wonder I'm worked off my a$$.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the thing...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Some athletes return to accusations of steroid&lt;br /&gt;abuse... and flip everyone on their head with the&lt;br /&gt;way the rip combines and measurement assessments.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's a good thing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some look like they're the same anorexic, weakling&lt;br /&gt;they were the season finished... and return with&lt;br /&gt;little or no improvements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some come back like Oliver Miller. (If you don't&lt;br /&gt;remember... they come back fat as the side of a&lt;br /&gt;barn).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some lump on a stack of muscle, woof down a lot of&lt;br /&gt;protein and supplements... look like fitness&lt;br /&gt;models, and then...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;--&gt; About half way into pre-season or - worse - the&lt;br /&gt;actual season, they get INJURED.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whatever happens, you WILL fall into one of those&lt;br /&gt;categories.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So best you find out how you fall into the first&lt;br /&gt;one, huh?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A focus for high school and college athletes in&lt;br /&gt;summer should be on four factors:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt; MORNING WORKOUTS.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;br /&gt;Morning workouts are critical. I fly in&lt;br /&gt;the face of most so-called trainers here,&lt;br /&gt;when I say that a morning workout is the&lt;br /&gt;most beneficial of all.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Problem is, most young athletes are lazy&lt;br /&gt;and want to spend their summers in bed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dumb move.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Did you know Kobe was in the gym at latest&lt;br /&gt;by 6am... ALL last summer?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My point isn't necessarily in doing some-&lt;br /&gt;thing for the sake of it, but rather in&lt;br /&gt;maximizing time and recovery.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Get out there early... and give your body&lt;br /&gt;the chance to address recovery consciously&lt;br /&gt;for the remainder of the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt; FULL AND ENHANCED RECOVERY.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Young athletes have absolutely no excuse at&lt;br /&gt;this time of year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's play X-box, go to the beach... &lt;br /&gt;      &lt;br /&gt;... or discipline yourself completely.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Summer is an *opportunity* like no other&lt;br /&gt;during the whole year to blow by your peers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't view your training and lifestyle as&lt;br /&gt;a chore.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't throw your opportunity up against the&lt;br /&gt;wall.     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Recovery is a critical component of this&lt;br /&gt;and, frankly, during summer you have no&lt;br /&gt;excuse not to recover from your sessions&lt;br /&gt;intelligently, fully and even in an&lt;br /&gt;enhanced way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is where things like the Window Plan&lt;br /&gt;come in...&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;Believe it or not... rest, diet and&lt;br /&gt;supplementation only make up a small part&lt;br /&gt;of what "recovery" is as a whole. In fact,&lt;br /&gt;The Window Plan comprehensively addresses&lt;br /&gt;the 7 much-neglected factors of recovery&lt;br /&gt;that turn you into an anabolic furnace...&lt;br /&gt;within days!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Check it out:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.theverticalproject.com/proof"&gt;http://www.theverticalproject.com/proof&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-3-&gt; NO OVER-TRAINING.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you're motivated (which a surprising&lt;br /&gt;number of young athletes aren't, anyway)&lt;br /&gt;then a real stumbling point in your&lt;br /&gt;quest will be the temptation to over-do&lt;br /&gt;it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;*---------------IMPORTANT----------------*&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The real advantage is summer is in the&lt;br /&gt;extended recovery that's available to you&lt;br /&gt;and *NOT* the extra time you can put in.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;*---------------IMPORTANT----------------*&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll admit that this tip may not apply&lt;br /&gt;to you, as unfortunately, most athletes&lt;br /&gt;are more likely to be those struggling&lt;br /&gt;to reach their ceiling of minimal effort&lt;br /&gt;as opposed to having to cap that effort&lt;br /&gt;and channel it fruitfully into results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you're one of those athletes who,&lt;br /&gt;during the majority of the year, are on&lt;br /&gt;the go training, practicing and playing&lt;br /&gt;non-stop, then you might have "Rocky&lt;br /&gt;syndrome"... where you think you have&lt;br /&gt;to go and go and go... and go...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... til you drop.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's why...&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-4-&gt; NEUROLOGY OVER MUSCULARITY.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The implication with extended rest and&lt;br /&gt;recovery is that the neurological system&lt;br /&gt;is favored over the muscular system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Look at the body with your mind, instead&lt;br /&gt;of with your eye.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This also and obviously relates to the&lt;br /&gt;training component.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Athletic power is a function of intensity&lt;br /&gt;and the ability to do evermore in everless&lt;br /&gt;time... *NOT* more time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;More in &lt;strong&gt;less&lt;/strong&gt;, not more in more.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The neurological system is what makes you&lt;br /&gt;jump higher, run faster and be more power-&lt;br /&gt;ful and explosive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That means it is imperative - an absolute&lt;br /&gt;requirement - to train in a framework&lt;br /&gt;where you are performing evermore, in&lt;br /&gt;everless. It's called maths and if you're&lt;br /&gt;not just working with science, but with&lt;br /&gt;MATHS also... how the heck do you know&lt;br /&gt;you're improving?&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;br /&gt;Simple answer is - you don't.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And you probably won't.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Best to order the *only* mathematically&lt;br /&gt;based performance system around:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a target="_blank" href="http://tinyurl.com/dbpgk"&gt;http://tinyurl.com/dbpgk&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In closing... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kick some heavy a$$ in summer... and develop your&lt;br /&gt;mind to withstand the rigours required for&lt;br /&gt;success.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Very, very, &lt;em&gt;very&lt;/em&gt; few even have the capacity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In fact...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm only talking to those who have the ability to&lt;br /&gt;understand me. All Rights Reserved.&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------------------------&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/13608674-114856897954989233?l=theverticalproject.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/13608674/posts/default/114856897954989233'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/13608674/posts/default/114856897954989233'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://theverticalproject.blogspot.com/2006/05/such-tease.html' title='Such a tease...'/><author><name>The Vertical Project</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15777505546292961658</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='24' height='32' src='http://www.theverticalproject.com/images/lowrey2.jpg'/></author></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13608674.post-114791124030874853</id><published>2006-05-17T17:13:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2006-05-17T17:28:40.713-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Lessons Learned (Part 1)...</title><content type='html'>+==============================+&lt;br /&gt;| May-17-06: Wednesday, 5.24pm&lt;br /&gt;| Los Angeles, USA time&lt;br /&gt;+==============================+&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since my previous blog posting, we've had an influx&lt;br /&gt;of activity at the office...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It seems as though a lot of people were, well,&lt;br /&gt;pissed off... by what I said in it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can understand that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But what I can't understand is the failure to take&lt;br /&gt;the lesson - and such an important lesson it was -&lt;br /&gt;from what I wrote.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The cold truth is that most people were just not&lt;br /&gt;mature, or ready, or honest enough to hear such a&lt;br /&gt;message.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And that's sad.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, today I'm going to explain that message to&lt;br /&gt;you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, before I do that...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to say something else that might piss&lt;br /&gt;you off right now, too; and it's the same thing&lt;br /&gt;that I tell my pro clients;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;strong&gt;--&gt; *My position as a teacher is not on trial.*&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I tell you something, you take it and learn&lt;br /&gt;from it...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Or leave.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;---------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Now for some explaining...&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;---------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are intelligent (and that's a &lt;strong&gt;big IF&lt;/strong&gt;), you&lt;br /&gt;will have arrived at the assumption that I sent&lt;br /&gt;the previous email entirely on purpose and as a&lt;br /&gt;test.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Did you consider that?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In that test, there were two possible responses&lt;br /&gt;that we at the office could actually measure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-1-&gt; The first of these was &lt;strong&gt;ANGER&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-2-&gt; The second was &lt;strong&gt;CONVERSION&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; *We couldn't measure if someone&lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; understood and processed the&lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; lesson and didn't order, just as&lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; we couldn't measure whether someone&lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; got angry, but didn't email us a&lt;br /&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; response.*&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those who got angry at my message failed the test&lt;br /&gt;through their ANGER.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Was that you?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You're probably getting angry that I've basketed&lt;br /&gt;you in that lowly group again. Aren't you?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And those who realized the lesson, and ordered our&lt;br /&gt;system, passed the test through their CONVERSION.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let me tell you... there was a lesser percentage&lt;br /&gt;of people in the PASS category than there was in&lt;br /&gt;the FAIL category. Much less.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;But that's how life goes - many fail, few succeed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I EXPECT most to get angry, because I EXPECT most&lt;br /&gt;to fail.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you fulfilled my expectation, your very own&lt;br /&gt;actions only proved my lesson to be even more&lt;br /&gt;correct for your life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Why the anger-response was an auto-fail&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that I've got you steaming, let me explain WHY&lt;br /&gt;the anger-response was an automatic failure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bottom-line: ANGER is an emotion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whereas, CONVERSION is an action-based result of a&lt;br /&gt;learned lesson. It indicates an increase in&lt;br /&gt;intellect.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is important, but more on that another time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As an athlete, a coach, or a trainer, you just&lt;br /&gt;cannot at any time be governed by emotions. AT NO&lt;br /&gt;TIME can emotions dictate or be responsible for&lt;br /&gt;your behaviour.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you actually took the time to e-mail us with a&lt;br /&gt;6-paragraph whinge about how "Luke, you know&lt;br /&gt;nothing, I'm a winner, not a loser"... your anger&lt;br /&gt;was pretty strong.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And - no - you are a LOSER.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You will always lose if you do not learn the&lt;br /&gt;lesson I am teachig you, which is don't act out of&lt;br /&gt;emotion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There were many of those responses. Frankly, I'm&lt;br /&gt;assuming that many of these same people will set&lt;br /&gt;themselves up again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just don't let that be you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to cut the lesson off for today, simply&lt;br /&gt;because I want you to read over what I've said&lt;br /&gt;here and try and BENEFIT from it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You'll benefit much more from a change in mindset&lt;br /&gt;than you ever will from a work-out plan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And your vertical just might go up as a result.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tomorrow, I will complete the rest of this e-mail&lt;br /&gt;and let you in on a few things like:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;WHAT&lt;/strong&gt; is the major difference between&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; a pro and an amateur...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; The specific sequence related to the&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; ANGER vs. CONVERSION equation... and&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; why it can guarantee your success... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;HOW&lt;/strong&gt; you can harness the power of&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; the "polarization method" in your&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; in your athletic pursuit... to see&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; far greater gains, much, much faster...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;WHY&lt;/strong&gt; just a couple of very small things&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; separate you (a nobody) from being a&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; somebody...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--&gt; &lt;strong&gt;AND&lt;/strong&gt;... how you can ensure that you&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; will change these things virtually&lt;br /&gt;--&gt;&gt;&gt; overnight.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Better yet, I'm giving all this world-class&lt;br /&gt;expertise to you, totally FREE.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you're committed to your own success in your&lt;br /&gt;field of pursuit, I suggest you go and re-read&lt;br /&gt;my insulting and highly-offensive e-mail and&lt;br /&gt;take the pearls out of it for *your own*&lt;br /&gt;benefit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Because if you don't, the guy who will beat you&lt;br /&gt;will.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll be back tomorrow. There is a vital lesson here that's *very*&lt;br /&gt;much worth your learning, whether you already own&lt;br /&gt;my system or not.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My subject of discussion today is:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;        &lt;strong&gt;--&gt;  * Desire vs Desire *  &lt;--&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You see, we've been getting a few e-mails lately&lt;br /&gt;saying things along the lines of...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  "Oh, I want to buy your system but I don't&lt;br /&gt;     want to pay for it..."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  "Can you lower the price especially for me?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  "I've got such a strong desire to be the best&lt;br /&gt;     athlete in the world, but I really don't&lt;br /&gt;     want to pay that much..."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the thing:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Imagine you are a father or mother. You might&lt;br /&gt;already be one...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And imagine that someone took your children and&lt;br /&gt;told you that they would shoot them square&lt;br /&gt;between the eye-balls by the end of the day...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; but...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  ... they would return them to you safe and&lt;br /&gt;without any harm if you could pay a ransom of&lt;br /&gt;$500 by 6pm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  $500 by 6pm = children returned safely&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;  Less than $500 by 6pm = children dead.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Think you would find the $500 by 6pm?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;I think you would... don't you?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Heck, even a BAD parent would do it. $500 by the&lt;br /&gt;end of the day. No dramas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll bet that if it was a mi11ion that you had&lt;br /&gt;to raise by 6pm... you'd still be able to do it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's simple...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   ... your desire to do it is stronger&lt;br /&gt;   than your desire NOT to do it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   Your desire to win is stronger than your&lt;br /&gt;   desire to lose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now here's where the lesson kicks in...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*If you already own* my Double Your Vertical Leap&lt;br /&gt;system, you have already taken the first step of&lt;br /&gt;desire. What about you?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;OK, I'm going to tell you mine...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My New Year's Resolution is:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;"In 2006, I will make failure 100% impossible when&lt;br /&gt;it comes to increasing vertical jump."&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;You like that, don't you?&lt;/em&gt;  :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Aside from the fact that you stand to benefit&lt;br /&gt;greatly when I pull this off (I already know how&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to do it), I'll tell you &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;why&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; my&lt;br /&gt;resolution is so great.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are some great lessons in this for you:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt; It's measurable&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I said: "I will make failure 100% impossible...",&lt;br /&gt;this is powerful because I put a measure on it &lt;br /&gt;(100%), I didn't just say failure will be&lt;br /&gt;impossible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt; It's specified&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I didn't just say I'm going to do this or that, I&lt;br /&gt;said: "In 2006...". This gives me the entire 12 mth&lt;br /&gt;period to fulfill it - but it will happen sooner.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-3-&gt; It can be accounted for&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If I dodn't do it - I'm going to hear about it&lt;br /&gt;from you, I'm sure! Plus, I really want to see&lt;br /&gt;greater results for all of my athletes. Yes, your patience&lt;br /&gt;will be rewarded.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We got snowed under with the Xmas gift last week,&lt;br /&gt;so we're sorry this is coming a little late.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But before I get to Secret #2, I want to let you&lt;br /&gt;in a something else that's coming your way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you read recently, I said I will be posting&lt;br /&gt;something here called "Cooking with Luke" (... or&lt;br /&gt;something corny like that).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, we've been working on the shots and outline&lt;br /&gt;for that today, so I wanted to post a quick snap:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.theverticalproject.com/images/luke_food2.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://www.theverticalproject.com/images/luke_food2.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This "Cooking With Luke" series will be a lot of&lt;br /&gt;fun, but more importantly, it will let you into&lt;br /&gt;The Window Plan, so you can see the dietary&lt;br /&gt;structure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As you know the diet is just 1 of 7 components of&lt;br /&gt;The Window Plan, but it is an important one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-------------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Secret #2: Keep A Training *AND* Diet Diary&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-------------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You've heard this before?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... Yeah OK, you might have...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But do you actualy *DO* it?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... just as I thought.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You've heard it, &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;but you don't DO it - do you?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Maybe the real secret here is a point regarding&lt;br /&gt;the human condition and the way our minds work.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You see, us humans are really lazy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Terribly lazy, in fact.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But being lazy just doesn't cut it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And when you go against this grain of this in-&lt;br /&gt;built human inertia, you distinguish yourself as&lt;br /&gt;someone who has a much, much greater chance of&lt;br /&gt;success at anything - especially a physical&lt;br /&gt;endeavor that requires a lot of persistent effort,&lt;br /&gt;like increasing vertical leap!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There's something very potent about actually&lt;br /&gt;writing out your training program and then going&lt;br /&gt;off, putting in the sweat... &lt;strong&gt;and *DOING* it&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can only know this when you do it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You get to a different level of &lt;em&gt;responsibility&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;and &lt;em&gt;commitment&lt;/em&gt; almost overnight.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And equally, there's something very compelling&lt;br /&gt;about writing down your diet and watching your&lt;br /&gt;habits evolve before your eyes... you start to see&lt;br /&gt;things that you *know* are not good and should not&lt;br /&gt;be there.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Better yet, you see exactly where your stuff-ups&lt;br /&gt;are... and then you know with pin-point accuracy&lt;br /&gt;how to fix them.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With the New Year about to dawn on us, and with&lt;br /&gt;everyone about to throw around their lame "New&lt;br /&gt;Years Resolutions"... the one thing I can&lt;br /&gt;recommend to you without any doubt is to go and&lt;br /&gt;buy both a training and diet diary - and start&lt;br /&gt;recording your workouts and nutritional regime.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just doing this will separate you from the crowd.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Know why?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Because 100% of people (athletes included) are&lt;br /&gt;damn LAZY. It is literally a disease born within&lt;br /&gt;us that we have to combat every minute of the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I really urge that you don't take this with a grain&lt;br /&gt;of salt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know there are many people that read the things&lt;br /&gt;I write here, in my Dirty Rotten Lies e-report&lt;br /&gt;and even in &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://tinyurl.com/dbpgk"&gt;Double Your Vertical Leap&lt;/a&gt;...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... and then they don't *DO* anything with it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This stresses me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was a point I raised in my Xmas gift (if you&lt;br /&gt;bothered to read it) and I guess in many ways it's&lt;br /&gt;the same thing I'm referring to again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;TAKE ACTION&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;OK, lazy-ass. All Rights Reserved.&lt;br /&gt;--------------------------------------------------&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/13608674-113443229775145913?l=theverticalproject.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/13608674/posts/default/113443229775145913'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/13608674/posts/default/113443229775145913'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://theverticalproject.blogspot.com/2005/12/important-message-for-you.html' title='An important message for you'/><author><name>The Vertical Project</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15777505546292961658</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='24' height='32' src='http://www.theverticalproject.com/images/lowrey2.jpg'/></author></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13608674.post-113408634857265779</id><published>2005-12-08T15:01:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2005-12-08T16:12:03.156-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Secret Number 1...</title><content type='html'>+=============================+       &lt;br /&gt;| Dec-08-05: Thursday, 4.01pm&lt;br /&gt;| Los Angeles, USA time&lt;br /&gt;+=============================+&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I told you that I was going to be releasing not&lt;br /&gt;just 1, but 3 secrets.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, here's the tip...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first two of these "secrets" are more like&lt;br /&gt;psychological boosters... they are not really&lt;br /&gt;going to increase your vert by themselves.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But if you apply them, you'll get where it's&lt;br /&gt;going.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As I said - they are boosters - and they are&lt;br /&gt;certainly not as almost-instantly potent as the&lt;br /&gt;final secret I will reveal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kepp that in mind.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, let's get to it...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Secret 1: Plan 19:00&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Plan 19:00?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What the heck is "Plan 19:00"?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm glad you asked.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Plan 19:00 (as in "Plan Nineteen Hundred") is one&lt;br /&gt;of the most ingenious ways I've ever heard of&lt;br /&gt;someone assuring themselves results in their&lt;br /&gt;training efforts - and, perhaps more importantly,&lt;br /&gt;ensuring *consistency* of effort over time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is a trick used by athletes (often body-&lt;br /&gt;builders) who specifically want to increase the&lt;br /&gt;strength and/or mass of a certain body-part - but&lt;br /&gt;the principle of it applies directly to the&lt;br /&gt;athlete.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's what it's about:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You may or may not know that in naval / old-world&lt;br /&gt;they use the term 19:00 (Nineteen Hundred) to&lt;br /&gt;refer to the 24-hour clock.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So 19:00 is...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7:00pm!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After 12 noon, every hour is counted to 24 (so&lt;br /&gt;that there is no "am" or "pm")...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1:00pm is 13:00 (Thirteen Hundred)&lt;br /&gt;3:00pm is 15:00&lt;br /&gt;6:00pm is 18:00&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... and, of course, 7pm is 19:00 - and so on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(Incidentally, 12 midnight isn't 24:00, it's&lt;br /&gt;00:00).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You following?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You've probably seen it in the movies or the TV&lt;br /&gt;show "24"... or something like that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the significance of "Plan 19:00":&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it's 19:00, &lt;em&gt;no matter where you are or&lt;br /&gt;what you are doing&lt;/em&gt;, you must drop everything&lt;br /&gt;and perform a certain task.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, if you're trying to increase your&lt;br /&gt;core strength, it might be to do 100 sit-ups.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If your calves are lagging, it might be doing&lt;br /&gt;10 sets of ankle flicks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you want greater strength through your shoulder&lt;br /&gt;girdle - it might be doing push-ups on a&lt;br /&gt;basketball, for a certain amount of sets and reps.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Who knows?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are no limits with this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, the general rules here are as follows:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; Whatever it is that you are working&lt;br /&gt;in your "Plan 19:00" is *in addition* to&lt;br /&gt;any work you are doing in your regular&lt;br /&gt;routine. So, for example - if you are&lt;br /&gt;working-out your abdominal/core area&lt;br /&gt;twice a week, keep doing that, but also&lt;br /&gt;do your Plan 19:00, as well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; You shouldn't put more than two&lt;br /&gt;(at most, three) body parts into your&lt;br /&gt;"Plan 19:00"... or you lose the&lt;br /&gt;effectiveness of doing it in the first&lt;br /&gt;place! The whole point is to give&lt;br /&gt;priority and sole attention to a part&lt;br /&gt;of your body that is comparatively&lt;br /&gt;weaker or worse-performing than the&lt;br /&gt;rest of your body.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-3-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; "Plan 19:00" should never go for more&lt;br /&gt;than 4-6 weeks, but should never be less&lt;br /&gt;than this, either.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-4-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; "Plan 19:00" is particularly good&lt;br /&gt;for &lt;strong&gt;a)&lt;/strong&gt; increasing core strength and power&lt;br /&gt;dispersion through the torso; &lt;strong&gt;b)&lt;/strong&gt; your&lt;br /&gt;calves and tib anterior balance (which is&lt;br /&gt;out of wack in must athletes); &lt;strong&gt;c)&lt;/strong&gt; your&lt;br /&gt;shoulder girdle (ie. stronger through&lt;br /&gt;your pull-ups or push-ups movements.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-5-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; Don't work opposing function-groups in the&lt;br /&gt;same "Plan". For example, if your shins are sore,&lt;br /&gt;your calves don't need the work, too! So, just&lt;br /&gt;focus on the tib-anterior. Or, if you want to&lt;br /&gt;improve your pull-up strength because you're&lt;br /&gt;finding that your shoulders are rounded and you&lt;br /&gt;have pains in your upper back, you certainly don't&lt;br /&gt;need work your push-up strength, too! Besides,&lt;br /&gt;working opposing function-groups just means that&lt;br /&gt;the intensity of the "plan" is diminished.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-6-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; As always, take the 7th day of every week&lt;br /&gt;off for rest and recovery - no exercise, no&lt;br /&gt;"Plan 19:00" - maybe a little light work-out or&lt;br /&gt;team game/practice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The great thing about Plan 19:00 is that wherever&lt;br /&gt;you are, the chances are you know the time (hey,&lt;br /&gt;most people wear watches) and you know that you&lt;br /&gt;owe the "plan" a certain sets of exercises or&lt;br /&gt;tasks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I even had a friend who dropped to the floor in a&lt;br /&gt;supermarket, just to get in his "Plan 19:00" for&lt;br /&gt;his abs! Nuts...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And get this:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- The sets are reps ate up to you...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- The combinations are up to you...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- The amount of time you Plan 19:00 goes for is&lt;br /&gt;up to you, too!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It might even be as simple as dropping to the &lt;br /&gt;floor and doing one set of isometric bridges for&lt;br /&gt;as long as you can stand the pain!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(And, by the way, you can call it Plan 21:00 or&lt;br /&gt;whatever - it doesn't matter. (Nov-03-05)</title><content type='html'>Just a quick note today regarding mail-in orders&lt;br /&gt;and a rumor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Firstly...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We will no longer be accepting checks or money-&lt;br /&gt;orders, as they are too time consuming and a vast&lt;br /&gt;majority of athletes order online.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The final date for this us accepting them is:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  --&gt; Wednesday, November 9.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Say it again with me:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  --&gt; Wednesday, November 9.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's next Wednesday!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Any checks/money-orders sent after this will&lt;br /&gt;either be sent back or lost in the mail. We accept&lt;br /&gt;*no* responsibility for them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those who still want to send mail-in orders will&lt;br /&gt;have the option of a direct funds transfer, but&lt;br /&gt;you will need to e-mail Jason about this on:&lt;br /&gt;  --&gt; tvp@theverticalproject.com&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, if you have an order pending or on the way,&lt;br /&gt;just shoot us an e-mail to clarify it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;Now to a rumour you may have heard...&lt;br /&gt;-------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let me clear the air, Luke...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A nasty rumour has been circulating in the past&lt;br /&gt;few weeks... and I want to put in my 2 cents.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Someone, somewhere has been telling people that I&lt;br /&gt;will closing down TheVerticalProject.com before&lt;br /&gt;Christmas, or by the start of the New Year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sure, it's a rumour...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  ... but it has some truth!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have been considering closing the site, since&lt;br /&gt;there are now a lot of athletes who have my&lt;br /&gt;incredible system for their use - at least 2,000&lt;br /&gt;the last time it was counted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Really, I don't want too many people to have it&lt;br /&gt;because it's *that* powerful... and I have so many&lt;br /&gt;elite clients, it's difficult to maintain this at&lt;br /&gt;the same time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We haven't made a decision yet, but anything could&lt;br /&gt;happen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If we do go ahead and close the site, I'll still&lt;br /&gt;be sending out e-mails every now and then, but the&lt;br /&gt;system will be 100% off-limits, except to those&lt;br /&gt;who have already bought it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Alright Luke. (Oct-26-05)</title><content type='html'>I really am angry.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On October 7 - just a few weeks ago - I sent out&lt;br /&gt;an  email I received from a guy named Remington.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do you remember?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In it, he explained to us just how incredible his&lt;br /&gt;results have been, because.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; --&gt; He's now got at least a whopping&lt;br /&gt;     *45 inch* vertical jump, all thanks&lt;br /&gt;     to my system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-----------------------&lt;br /&gt;You can see Remington's hops in action here:&lt;br /&gt; --&gt; &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.theverticalproject.com/rem.htm"&gt;http://www.theverticalproject.com/rem.htm&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-----------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To me, *results like this are nothing unusual.*&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; ... I deal with it everyday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But to some people, results like these make them&lt;br /&gt;either angry... or jealous... or just plain&lt;br /&gt;skeptical.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, you know what we did?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*Against my better judgement*, we gave out his&lt;br /&gt;e-mail address (with his permission), so that&lt;br /&gt;anyone could contact him and get him to verify his&lt;br /&gt;claims.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, I hate giving out other people's email&lt;br /&gt;addresses because there are just so many idiotic,&lt;br /&gt;moronic... gutless fools out there who go and do&lt;br /&gt;stupid things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But we gave out his email address anyway, because&lt;br /&gt;we thought we could trust people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; ... and this created a storm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We got flooded with emails accusing us of lying,&lt;br /&gt;of creating bullsh*t pictures... and of paying&lt;br /&gt;this guy off.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; ... and apparently so did Remington.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's exact e-mails between Remington and myself&lt;br /&gt;earlier *today* - cut and pasted here for you:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;***************&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  ----- Original Message ----- &lt;br /&gt;  From: Remington Claywell &lt;br /&gt;  To: The Vertical Project &lt;br /&gt;  Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 11:29 AM&lt;br /&gt;  Subject: Re: Testiomonial with photos&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  Hey Luke,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  Once again, thank you. (Oct-09-05)</title><content type='html'>The response so far to my 3-part squatting series&lt;br /&gt;has been so good... that we decided to hold you in&lt;br /&gt;suspense for part 3 just a day longer!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Without further ado, here's part 3 of my 'unheard'&lt;br /&gt;squatting tips.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This actually has two parts to it... and is a tip&lt;br /&gt;that I give especially to athletes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In other words, you're going to like it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Better yet, this email contains that gift I've&lt;br /&gt;been telling you about (actually, there are two!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These tips are less to do with form and technique&lt;br /&gt;and a lot more to do with things that assist the&lt;br /&gt;jumper.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The two aspects I discuss relate to two of the&lt;br /&gt;most common questions we get emailed with:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt; Do bands and chains increase vert?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt; ... and what about weight vests?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The answers (and your 2 gifts!) are all below.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Check 'em out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Luke&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;====================================&lt;br /&gt; DO BANDS AND CHAINS INCREASE VERT?&lt;br /&gt;====================================&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bands and chains, by their very nature, actually&lt;br /&gt;decrease power output the higher the athlete&lt;br /&gt;jumps.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Big claim - but here's why:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The higher the athlete squats using bands and&lt;br /&gt;chains, the greater the resistance.  The greatest&lt;br /&gt;load is actually at the *top* of the motion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is not the case in a natural jumping motion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Same goes for the bench press...&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;In nature, the greatest load bared is at the&lt;br /&gt;*bottom* and/or mid-range of the movement, not&lt;br /&gt;the top.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Training with bands/chains effectively teaches an&lt;br /&gt;athlete to become *slower*, the higher they rise&lt;br /&gt;in the jumping motion! &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;The problem here is that a vast majority of&lt;br /&gt;athletes need to *increase* speed the higher they&lt;br /&gt;progress through the motion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is *exactly* why pool work is so vital in&lt;br /&gt;effectively re-creating the natural jumping&lt;br /&gt;setting (especially when done to a specific&lt;br /&gt;frequency) - all without the bone-crunching&lt;br /&gt;pressure of carrying gravity!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Because of the water, you actually decrease load&lt;br /&gt;bared the higher you jump - and this is ideal for&lt;br /&gt;increasing vertical jump explosion!&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;This is what I call "Progressive Acceleration" and&lt;br /&gt;it's something I discuss and teach in Volume 1 of&lt;br /&gt;my system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's a also a reason why so many of my athletes&lt;br /&gt;are known as 'fast' jumpers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Clearly then, the problem with bands and chains&lt;br /&gt;is that they encourage progressive *de*celeration,&lt;br /&gt;which means you a likely to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt; Jump slower&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; -AND-&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt; Jump lower!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; ** Who wants to do that?!?! **&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The solution:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; -- Don't Use Bands And Chains --&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;==================================&lt;br /&gt; ... AND WHAT ABOUT WEIGHT-VESTS?&lt;br /&gt;==================================&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;OK, here's an interesting one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good ol' weight-vests.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many people ask us about weight-vests and using&lt;br /&gt;them for increasing vertical leap.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The idea is that by increasing the weight you do&lt;br /&gt;your jump training at, you will be 'lighter' when&lt;br /&gt;you play... and therefore jump higher when the&lt;br /&gt;vest is removed during competiton.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good in theory...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; ... bad in practice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's why:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's true that weight-vests do provide added&lt;br /&gt;weight to your training and jumping movements, but&lt;br /&gt;they do so at a cost - actually two costs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; The first is that the speed at which&lt;br /&gt;      you can perform the actual movement&lt;br /&gt;      is greatly hindered, so your&lt;br /&gt;      neurological system is trained to&lt;br /&gt;      react and move slower, which:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         &lt;strong&gt;--&gt; Decreases Your Vertical &lt;--&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      This is because the faster you move&lt;br /&gt;      through the jumping motion, generally&lt;br /&gt;      the higher you'll jump.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      Weight-vests prevent this. (Well, to an &lt;br /&gt;      extent - I'll explain later how a&lt;br /&gt;      little-known "magical formula" is your&lt;br /&gt;      only hope of reversing this...)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; The second major disadvantage of&lt;br /&gt;      weight-vests is that they are&lt;br /&gt;      really, really, really bad news&lt;br /&gt;      for your back.&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;br /&gt;      The reason for this lies in how&lt;br /&gt;      the weight is distributed through&lt;br /&gt;      the spine and how the un-even load&lt;br /&gt;      is compensated by much of the upper&lt;br /&gt;      spine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      ** Here's a wise secret... **&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      The brain and the spine control&lt;br /&gt;      the neurological system... and the&lt;br /&gt;      height of your vertical jump is&lt;br /&gt;      completely and totaly dependent on&lt;br /&gt;      the functioning of your neuro-&lt;br /&gt;      logical system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      Therefore, the *last* thing you ever&lt;br /&gt;      want to compromise in your quest&lt;br /&gt;      for a higher vertical is your brain&lt;br /&gt;      and your spine. (Oct-06-05)</title><content type='html'>As promised, here is part 2 of the report...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I rushed to get this out to you because I know it&lt;br /&gt;can really boost your efforts, sometimes by as&lt;br /&gt;much as&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;--&gt; 15%... in just 1 workout!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well read on, my friend...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;       &lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-2-&gt; Head - Butt - Eyes - Heels - Butt&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      Upon stepping under the rack and placing&lt;br /&gt;      the bar across your traps (back of&lt;br /&gt;      shoulder-blades) you must follow the&lt;br /&gt;      order, keeping your transverse abdominus&lt;br /&gt;      (TA) contracted at *all* times:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; HEAD&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         Standing straight up under the weight&lt;br /&gt;         of the squat bar, make sure your head&lt;br /&gt;         positioned vertically - *not* looking&lt;br /&gt;         upwards, as some say... or downwards.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; BUTT&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         Lower into the squat, initiating the&lt;br /&gt;         squat using your butt instead of your&lt;br /&gt;         knees.&lt;br /&gt;           This is important, as most athletes&lt;br /&gt;         &amp; people tend to initiate the squat&lt;br /&gt;         through their knee and this can cause&lt;br /&gt;         a lot of undue stress because the knee&lt;br /&gt;         then becomes the 'weakest link' and&lt;br /&gt;         all pressure is transferred there.&lt;br /&gt;           Instead, you want your butt/glutes&lt;br /&gt;         to become the 'weakest link' and&lt;br /&gt;         allow initial stress to be placed&lt;br /&gt;         there.&lt;br /&gt;           This is crucial - the primary move&lt;br /&gt;         should be through your glutes/hips,&lt;br /&gt;         not through your knees... it is much&lt;br /&gt;         safer... and the hips play a more&lt;br /&gt;         vital role in jump height anyway.&lt;br /&gt;           You want to imagine sitting on a&lt;br /&gt;         toilet, not allowing your knees to&lt;br /&gt;         vertically pass your toes. This means&lt;br /&gt;         your shins *must* be as close to&lt;br /&gt;         vertical as possible.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;      &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; EYES&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         During the entire descent, make sure&lt;br /&gt;         you lock your eyes on your own eyes.&lt;br /&gt;           Obviously, you'll need a mirror for&lt;br /&gt;         this - it helps to ensure you don't&lt;br /&gt;         look upwards or downwards.&lt;br /&gt;           I'm not going to go into the hows&lt;br /&gt;         and whys of this - just trust me.     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; HEELS&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         At the bottom of the squat, ideally&lt;br /&gt;         you want your thighs to be parallel&lt;br /&gt;         with the floor, with your TA and butt&lt;br /&gt;         contracted safely.&lt;br /&gt;           This is where your heels driving&lt;br /&gt;         through the floor helps. Instead of&lt;br /&gt;         standing up, you want to apply as much&lt;br /&gt;         pressure to the ground with your heels&lt;br /&gt;         as you can, imagining your are trying&lt;br /&gt;         to bust through the floor with your&lt;br /&gt;         heels.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; BUTT&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;         As you start to rise, you'll be need to&lt;br /&gt;         be tightening your butt and semi-&lt;br /&gt;         thrusting your hips forward.&lt;br /&gt;           You will immediately notice this&lt;br /&gt;         increases the weight you lift and takes&lt;br /&gt;         the stress from your knees.&lt;br /&gt;         &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That should do for now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Go over this a few times before you apply it to&lt;br /&gt;the squat rack... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Head - Butt - Eyes - Heels - Butt&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Head - Butt - Eyes - Heels - Butt!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; H-B-E-H-B&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; H-B-E-H-B!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Get up and try it in your living room or your&lt;br /&gt;bedroom now (without weight to perfect it)...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Go on!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You back yet?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tomorrow I'll be sending you part 3 of this&lt;br /&gt;special report.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This one will be very important and answer two&lt;br /&gt;questions that *especially* relate to those who&lt;br /&gt;want to increase their vertical leap.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;... sounds like you and me!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;======&lt;br /&gt;And...&lt;br /&gt;======&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll also be sending you the details of a f*ree&lt;br /&gt;and very limited-time-only gift.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After you'll read tomorrow's report, you'll see&lt;br /&gt;how this gift will assist you...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whatever you do - DON'T MISS IT.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm not in the habit of giving things away for&lt;br /&gt;f*ree, but this time... (Oct-05-05)</title><content type='html'>To make up for being out of touch for a while, I&lt;br /&gt;want to get something off my chest.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; Something that could greatly help you out.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was in the gym a few weeks ago and - as often&lt;br /&gt;happens when I'm at the gym - I got pulled up by&lt;br /&gt;the head instructor and asked to give a couple of&lt;br /&gt;guys a run-down on proper squatting technique.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fair enough.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This happens *regularly* where I train and work&lt;br /&gt;with clients. This same trainer pulls me up to&lt;br /&gt;correct some poor fool who is have knee problems,&lt;br /&gt;a terribly sore back, and/or making no gains in&lt;br /&gt;his squat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, I thought what I have to say to these people&lt;br /&gt;would help you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First things first.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Most athletes realize the squat is important to&lt;br /&gt;any sort of consistent gains. But other than guys&lt;br /&gt;like you and me who are hell-bent on increasing&lt;br /&gt;vertical leap, very, very few people actually&lt;br /&gt;have the balls to squat regularly, or with any&lt;br /&gt;kind of effect or results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Generally an athlete will squat with much more&lt;br /&gt;success than a regular person will and there is&lt;br /&gt;only one reason for this:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;-&gt; Athletes legs are conditioned to carrying heavy loads.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, initially, I try to get the person to squat&lt;br /&gt;like an athlete.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's a list of 3 'un-heard' tips to send your&lt;br /&gt;squat through the roof...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;       &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;-1-&gt; Squat Through Your Heels&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      The first and perhaps most subtle point&lt;br /&gt;      for improving your squat is how you&lt;br /&gt;      choose to focus the lift.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      Many athletes are focused on *raising*&lt;br /&gt;      the weight, and this encourages a slight&lt;br /&gt;      forward tilt, bringing the quads and&lt;br /&gt;      calves much more into play.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      This is *not* how you want to emphasise&lt;br /&gt;      the lift.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;      Instead, you should focus on driving the&lt;br /&gt;      back of the heel through the ground.
